Harriet Walter CBE has played almost all of Shakespeare’s heroines, mostly for the RSC and most notably Ophelia, Helena, Portia, Viola, Imogen, Lady MacBeth, Beatrice and Cleopatra. Her Brutus in the all female production of Julius Caesar at Donmar Warehouse was widely acclaimed and was followed by Henry IV. Other stage roles include the Duchess of Malfi, Hedda Gabler and Linda in Death of a Salesman. She has created roles in new plays such as Arcadia and Sweet Panic and starred in countless films and television dramas. Her books are Brutus and other Heroines (discussed at our 2018 Festival), Other People’s Shoes, Macbeth and Facing It.
