PROGRAMME FOR NEWS

Welcome to our tenth anniversary programme. This year our theme is NEWS. Such is the quantity of news both real and fake, now circulating via print, television, radio and social media, and such is the quality of books on current affairs, this programme could have been filled several times over. To offer variety, titles outside the main theme feature but should you attend several events throughout the week you will discover how subjects link one with another. Our programme covers fiction, poetry, and non-fiction including biography and memoir, and we have events on royalty, spying, fraud, history, politics, celebrity, journalism, nature, rural life, mental health, cycling, religion, gardening, music, arts and crafts, and photography. Our objectives, as always, are to host events that are lively, entertaining and informative: illustrated talks, lectures, interviews, discussions, readings and film, and the Printers’ Wayzgoose is back by popular demand. Having heard our writers, we invite you to experience the joy of buying real books – signed by the authors – from Kevin’s Borzoi Bookshop table. Our thriving Cotswold market town with a huge range of B&B and self-catering accommodation, great places to eat and drink, unique shops, magnificent Wool Church, and an Arts and Crafts Museum is the perfect festival destination. For your added pleasure, Toke’s Food and Drink provides the evening bar in Chipping Campden School; and on the event packed Festival Saturday Toke’s runs a café stocked with comestibles. Finally, we would like to take this opportunity to thank Chipping Campden School for use of its facilities and we look forward to the new Performing Arts Centre that is soon to be a reality.

A unique opportunity for students to have their horizons broadened, perspectives challenged, and to engage in debate long after the event has finished. I can’t recommend it enough.’ John Sanderson, MA, Principal, Chipping Campden School

This year’s Chipping Campden School Festival Ambassadors are Hannah Parker & India Scorer.
